Endometriosis Awareness Month at Plants Not Pills CBD

Endometriosis is a disease that affects nearly 2000 million women worldwide. The resulting pain and inflammation caused by this condition is often excruciating. In the midst of Endometriosis Awareness Month, Plants Not Pills CBD examines current research and treatment options for Endometriosis as well as the potential benefits that CBD has in reducing and alleviating symptoms related to this disease.

What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is characterized by the growth of tissue similar to that of which lines the uterus or endometrium, appearing in other parts of the female anatomy. As this tissue responds directly to monthly menstruation periods, symptoms vary from abnormally heavy bleeding during menstruation to acute pain and inflammation in other areas of the body. The concentration of this tissue and the symptoms that occur as a result of its growth takes place mainly in the pelvic cavity, but can also extend to the bowels, appendix, fallopian tubes, peritoneum and ovaries.

What Causes Endometriosis

Several causes of the condition have been identified, including genetic factors or family history as well retrograde menstruation whereby during a woman’s menstrual cycle, blood flows backwards to the pelvis through the fallopian tubes. Other potential causes are metaplasia, during which normal pelvic tissue converts to endometriosis as well as pregnancy during older age, early menstruation (11 years old or earlier), excessive alcohol use, changes in the immune system and low body weight.

Treatment for Endometriosis

Only a half century ago, allopathic medicine was still recommending pregnancy as the main viable solution for Endometriosis. Luckily, more recent research and innovation has discovered effective means to relieve this condition, though at this time there is still no cure. One of the most common treatments is “Deep Excision” during which the lesions where the unwanted tissue is found is removed from beneath its surface. Surgeons can also employ the “Cold-excision” method whereby lasers can burn off the endometriosis lesions. Though proven effective, if the lesions are not properly removed from beneath the surface, unwanted tissue can grow back.

In July, 2018, the FDA approved the first pill specifically for Endometriosis symptoms called Orilissa.

Cannabidiol (CBD) as a Natural Alternative for Endometriosis Symptoms

Over the past decade, millions of women experiencing extreme pain, inflammation, nausea, fatigue, bloating and anxiety during their menstrual cycles as a result of Endometriosis have been using CBD to alleviate these symptoms. Studies have shown that CBD is an effective anti inflammatory in addition to working as an effective indirect antagonist on CB receptors that process anxiety and pain in the body.

At Plants Not Pills CBD, several women have reported a reduction in cramping and general pain associated with their menstrual cycles with the Revive THC Oil in 1200 and 2400 mg varieties. The interaction of CBD with a small amount of the principal psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has been shown to be especially effective in pain and inflammation reduction in what is known as an “Entourage Effect”.  Please note that all THC levels in Plants Not Pills CBD products are less than 0.3% and not enough to cause any “high” or euphoric effects.

Several clients have also been able to prevent symptoms related to Endometriosis before they appear by using CBD as a daily supplement in either our Vitalus gum drop or Vitalus soft gel capsule form.

All of Plants Not Pills CBD products are made with organically cultivated CBD. All of our oils and capsules are non-GMO, giving our clients the peace of mind that comes with using a natural alternative to prescription medication.
